9.6 Setting Internationalization Options
Here you can set the operating environment, such as language, country, text, time zone, and keyboard. The following are system configuration items related to these:
■ Locale setting
A locale is a system to allow switching among several languages, and it allows the user to select the user's language, country code, and characters, and a collation order which is a set of rules associated with them. When selecting locales on a newly installed system, the UTF-8 locale must be selected as the default locale. Other locales are to support backward compatibility with other systems that need previous systems.
■ Time zone setting
The time zone is the standard time zone that the computer's clock will use as a reference. The time zone is determined by each country based on Universal Time (UTC), and the same time is used in a specific time zone.
■ Keyboard setting
This is the task of setting the type of keyboard to be used on the computer.
