7.3.1 Configuring Panel

The Raspberry Pi system provides useru with the ability to adjust the configuration, processing capabilities, appearance, and location of the Panel according to user’s needs. If you press the right mouse button anywhere on the panel, a popup menu like the screen below appears. You can use the [Panel Settings] menu to make the necessary settings.

■ Desktop

[Desktop] represents the environment in which a particular user is currently working. When a user executes a specific program, it not only displays the execution status of the program in the form of a window, but also receives a command or input from a user, processes the program, and displays the result.

■ Panel

The entire area at the top of the screen is called [Panel]. It can be moved up, down, left, or right according to the user’s setting.

The [Panel] area is usually used to control and coordinate the window. It can shut down or restart the system, and it also starts a specific program or displays the overall status of the system.

This panel can be divided into several areas according to the purpose, and each area can be defined to perform a special function. [Menu], [Application Launch Bar], [Task Bar], [Tool] can be said as used typical area.
